gbics continues to monitor, review and respond to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) developments with the priority of maintaining the health and welfare of our people, and interested parties, while limiting business impacts for our valued clients and partners.
gbics has conducted a risk assessment, in consultation with our employees, covering all of its operations, and has implemented mitigating control measures, procedures to either eliminate any perceived risk, or where it is not possible to eliminate entirely, we have reduced the risk hazard to as low as reasonably practicable. This risk assessment is available on request. This risk assessment is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure any further hazards identified are addressed appropriately, updated when required, as the advice guidelines change.

We have implemented a specific Coronavirus working procedure, in consultation with our employees, that consider health precautions including further recently advised travel restrictions and enabled our colleagues to work from home wherever possible or as advised in line with guidance from government and health agencies.
We have successfully tested and provided appropriate communications and security facilities for all our teams, over 85% of our employees are able to work flexibly if required, to provide continuity of support for our customers. We have also established management protocols and implemented formal training for remote working to mitigate possible isolation, support closer collaboration and maintain our people’s well-being and focus.

Company-wide communications are regularly shared with information about COVID-19 and how to prevent its spread and we have increased cleaning services and access to hand sanitiser in our facilities.

For our customers, we are doing everything possible to mitigate supply chain and service impacts, including working with our manufacturers, vendors and carriers to monitor and advise of potential issues.
Since the beginning of the year we have been steadily building our UK stock holding of fibre transceivers and are currently in a position to ship all of our products directly from our UK warehouse. Working closely with DHL we are able to offer next-day shipping in the UK. Same-day delivery is also available in the UK for business-critical orders. We will continue to review and update our policies, procedures and communications in line with recommendations from the guidance provided by the UK Government, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and local government and health organisations.
